"Lonumirus" is best described as a small nuclear explosion in your mouth! Even so, the mention of it makes my mouth water!!! I believe that one of the best things about it is that mothers all over Maldives have their own recipe on how to make it. It's different in each home but tastes equally delicious!! And obviously, my mother makes my favorite lonumirus of all!!! So I made her pass down her recipe to me! ;-)
INGREDIENTS:
about two handfuls of dried red chili, roasted |
2 onions, 1 bulb of garlic, 15 stems' curry leaves, 3 limes |
Two raw mangoes, peeled and cut |
1 Tablespoon of ground fennel seeds [Dhiri]
1/2 Tablespoon of whole black pepper or ground black pepper
Water
Salt to taste
METHOD:
- Mix everything together in a food processor. Add a bit of water if the mixture is too dry. Keep mixing it till a thick paste is formed.
